Overview
The Mechatronics Systems course from DigiPen Institute of Technology looks at the design, analysis, development, and life-cycle management of complex interconnected systems with a broad range of applications. Its methodologies address real-world complexities, such as uncertainty, constraints, multiple objectives, and interactions among various parts or subsystems that constitute the whole.
Graduates of this programme are trained to understand the larger context of hardware and software engineering, solving complex problems through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach. A trained embedded systems engineer uses sophisticated methods to develop and effectively manage engineered systems within today’s complex and interconnected world.
The BEng in Mechatronics Systems is a joint degree programme by SIT and DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore.
Career opportunities:
Career opportunities in systems engineering are driven by increasing globalization and technological advancements. As Singapore and the world continue to develop more interconnected devices and systems, the need for engineers with both component- and system-level knowledge will increase dramatically. Beng in Mechatronics Systems graduates will be uniquely prepared to address these increasingly complex system design tasks.
Graduates of this degree programme have the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue c
- Systems Engineer
A systems engineer deals with the design and management of large-scale systems, whether for software, services, or traditional products. They must be capable of analyzing and understanding all stages of the product life cycle in order to identify problems and provide strategic solutions.
- Software Engineer
Software engineer positions can be found in any number of industries. The role of a software engineer is to design and build computer systems and software — either from scratch or by modifying existing systems and codebases.
- Embedded Systems Engineer
An embedded systems engineer helps to create and improve computers or computer-driven devices. They are typically proficient in both hardware and software development and are able to programme low-level firmware and operating systems. Unlike more traditional software engineers, embedded systems engineers must often be more comfortable working with tight constraints while being mindful of safety and reliability.
