Overview

As one of the oldest English Literature departments in the UK, Bangor has a strong history of world-class research and teaching. Our specialisms range from the literatures of the Middle Ages and Renaissance period, through to Victorian and Modernist forms.

This English Literature (Hons) course from Bangor University explores a multitude of genres, such as Comedy, Gothic and Children’s fiction. You’ll be encouraged to think and write critically and creatively, developing valuable communication and social skills that will be highly attractive to future employers.

The skills you learn whilst studying English Literature – your ability to research, read texts, analyse the written word, write creatively, formulate structured arguments and communicate effectively – prepare you for a career in the creative industries.

Offers are tariff based, 104 - 128 tariff points from a Level 3 qualification* e.g.:

A Levels: English Literature/English Language/English preferred but not required; General Studies and Key Skills not normally accepted.

BTEC National Extended Diploma: DMM - DDM

Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma: DMM- DDM

City & Guilds Advanced Technical Extended Diploma (1080): considered on a case-by-case basis

International Baccalaureate Diploma: including grade H5 in English Literature/Language

Access: pass required

Welsh Baccalaureate: We will accept this qualification in conjunction with other level 3 qualifications

T Levels: T Levels in a relevant subject considered on a case-by-case basis

Extended Project Qualification: Points can include a relevant Extended Project (EPQ) but must include a minimum 2 full A-levels, or equivalent.
