This programme is Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligible either by meeting IRCC’s field of study criteria (as of November 1, 2024) or by being a degree programme exempt from these requirements (as of March 11, 2025). Please consult the IRCC website for the most current information.
This programme is the continuation of the Electrical Engineering Technology (Co-op and Non Co-op Version) programme from Algonquin College , and is open to students who already have an Algonquin College Electrical Engineering Technician Ontario College Diploma and meet the admission requirements. Through a series of theory courses and extensive practical labs, you learn skills specific to becoming an Electrical Engineering Technologist. You expand your knowledge base of the following:
- electrical principles
- codes
- circuitry
- industrial control systems
- computer applications
- machinery
- AutoCAD
Careers
Graduates may find employment in the following areas: design and testing, manufacturing, installation and/or supervision, diagnostics and analysis of electrical, communication, utilities, and fire protection equipment and systems.

General requirements
- Successful completion of Algonquin's Electrical Engineering Technician programme or equivalent with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and no less than a C- in ENL2019T - Technical Communications, ELE8941 - Robotics and Controls, and ELE8940 - Industrial Telecommunications. Plus the successful completion of the additional math course, MAT8102.
- Students not meeting these requirements require department permission to register in technology courses. Applicants from other colleges should contact the programme coordinator prior to applying to determine required bridging courses.
