Overview
Throughout the Basic Musicianship course from Douglas College if you have an interest in music but little or no formal training, then this programme is ideal for you. You can also use it to upgrade your existing music skills to prepare for the Music Diploma programme at Douglas.
Through individual lessons, choral and instrumental ensemble work, and musical theory, you’ll deepen your understanding of music and prepare for a rewarding career. Audition for one of Douglas’s esteemed performance groups and get live performing experience through concerts, recordings and festival appearances.

General requirements
All applicants for admission to the College must satisfy at least ONE of the following criteria:
- British Columbia secondary school graduation or equivalent;
- One course short of British Columbia secondary school graduation, or equivalent;
- Nineteen (19) years of age or older by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance;
- Seventeen (17) years of age on the first day of the first semester of attendance, and has not been enrolled at a school for a minimum of one year;
- Completion of a certificate or equivalent from a special needs programme and has been in school for 12 years, or has received an Evergreen or Leaving School Certificate
