Overview
This Primary Education (5-11) with Qualified Teacher Status (Hons) degree from Leeds Beckett University provides the perfect fast-track teacher training route with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Combining academic study with interactive seminars and experiential learning, you'll build strong subject knowledge across the curriculum. You'll choose from one of two age pathways:
- 3-7 years (Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1) or
- 5-11 years (Key Stage 1 and 2)
With school placements every year, you'll start shaping your teacher identity from day one. You'll graduate as a reflective, research-informed educator, equipped with the professional skills to inspire, challenge, and support young learners as they discover the world around them.
As part of this primary education course, you'll:
- Master the curriculum through engaging modules that build strong subject knowledge, helping you feel confident teaching across primary age groups
- Understand how children think, grow, and learn - and gain the skills to support every child to succeed and feel included

Career opportunities:
You’ll have achieved qualified teacher status and will be able to teach pupils across the 3-11 age range on completion of this course. Most of the graduates enter the teaching profession as early career teachers, but a degree in primary education can lead to other careers in the sector, including:
- Learning support assistant
- Agency supply teacher
- Working in the educational department of a museum
- Working in outdoor educational provision
- Teaching in a school abroad

Other requirements
General requirements
- GCSE English Language, Maths, Science and two other subjects at Grade C or above (Grade 4 for those sitting their GCSE from 2017 onwards) or equivalent. Key Skills, Functional Skills and the Certificate in Adult Numeracy/Literacy are not accepted in place of GCSEs.
- Access to HE Diploma - Pass overall with a minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points.
- T Levels - Pass overall with a minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points, including a C or above on the core.
- International baccalaureate - 120 tariff points or a score of 30 from the IB diploma. This should include a minimum of 3 Highers with 2 at grade H5 or above
- Suitable applicants will be invited to an interview as part of the admissions process - interviews will be held between November and March. Invitations are sent via UCAS and you should check your UCAS Track account for further interview details.
