You will achieve a strong ethical competence for working in social services and you will learn to promote the well-being of children and families using a socio-pedagogical approach.
Key features
You will gain valued skills and knowledge in promoting the well-being of children and families in early childhood education and care (ECEC). In addition, you will be skilled in incorporating principles of social counselling to support people’s growth in society. You will learn the Finnish language to help manage different client situations in Finnish working life. The program integrates creative and art-based methods into client work, fostering support and community engagement.
After your Early Childhood Education and Care studies at Häme University of Applied Sciences, you will have the professional skills and knowledge to work in early childhood education and care in Finland using the Finnish language. In addition, you will be qualified to work in other fields of social services as a Bachelor of Social Services.

- graduating from the Finnish upper secondary school or a Matriculation Examination
- an International Baccalaureate degree and/or graduated from IB high school with IB exam 6 results in different subjects (IB Diploma Results/IB Certificate);
- a European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma
- a Reifeprüfung (RP) or Deutsches Internationales Abitur (DIA) degree;
- a Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification covering 120 credits or 180 competence points or a corresponding earlier Finnish vocational degree covering at least 80 credits
- a Finnish post-secondary or higher vocational level diploma
- a Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification or a further or specialist vocational qualification as a competence-based qualification, or a comparable previous qualification
- a foreign qualification that provides eligibility for higher education studies in the country in question
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, postgraduate licentiate and doctoral degrees
