Overview
In the two-semester Mechanical Techniques - Plumbing program, you will learn to:
- Identify and install common plumbing fixtures in our multi-story KUBE structure
- Assemble various piping systems related to plumbing
- Interpret and create drawings, estimates and material lists
- Develop competencies in venting, waste and drainage systems
- Examine concepts in water and wastewater systems, including operations, backflow and cross connection
- Explore renewable energy systems related to plumbing
- Work competently with various hand and power tools
Key facts
Upon program completion, you will also have:- Graduates are eligible for exemption from the Level 1 in-school requirements for Plumber 306A apprenticeship training.
- An opportunity to obtain industry related health and safety certifications
- Certificates for IPEX 636 training and Viega Certified connections
- An opportunity to complete the Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems Course through the Walkerton Clean Water Centre
- Grade 12 Math equivalency, a requirement for many apprenticeships.
