The ideal Leisure student has inspiring ideas about the future of sustainable leisure, whilst also being able to grasp the strategic level. You are inquisitive, enterprising and ambitious and enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams, which is the nature of the game here.
The course has a strong focus on sustainability and future developments in the industry. Being at the forefront of the industry, we have been awarded a quality label and Distinction for Sustainable Development by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).

- From acquiring the basics in leisure theories to developing your strategic management skills, throughout this programme you will learn through practice. You carry out assignments set by players in the industry in teams, drawing on each other's strengths and developing workable solutions for the client.
- The programme gives you the chance to follow a minor at a Grand Tour location in Indonesia, South Africa or Thailand, go on an exchange to a partner institute and do your internship abroad.

General requirements
- To be admitted to one of our 4-year bachelor programmes, you will need to meet the admission requirements as outlined in Dutch Higher Education law. For 4-year bachelor programme at NHL Stenden, you need a diploma that is at least equivalent to an NLQF 4/EQF 4 level (Dutch/European Qualifications Framework) and comparable to the required Dutch diploma.
3 Year Track
- To be admitted to one of our 3-year bachelor programmes (also known as fast tracks), you will need to meet the admission requirements as outlined in Dutch Higher Education law. Your diploma must be the equivalent of a Dutch pre-university high school diploma (VWO).
Short Track
- Successfully completed general secondary education.
- Completed a subject-related apprenticeship
- Or work experience
- Each application to the Short Track Programme is assessed individually and can vary widely, depending on educational background and the study programme in question.
