Overview
The Engineering Physics - Mechatronics from University of the Fraser Valley enabling you to enter the workplace immediately, but gives you a background in math and science that is adaptable for completion of a full BSc degree in Physics at UFV, or an Engineering degree from another institution. You learn topics such as mechanics, circuit analysis, microelectronics, sensors and actuators, and microcontrollers and embedded systems, and acquire a strong theoretical grounding in physics.
Career opportunities:
- Designed for students to go either directly to the workplace or to ladder to a UFV Bachelor of Science degree with a Physics major. Those completing the diploma may also be eligible to transfer to an engineering degree at another institution.
- As an emerging field, mechatronics has been accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. It is a discipline in full expansion. As our world relies increasingly on electromechanical systems to power new technology, the need for trained mechatronics engineers and technologists will continue to grow.
- Because mechatronics graduates receive interdisciplinary training, they can work in a wide variety of fields, including automotive engineering, aerospace industry, space science, manufacturing, telecommunications, oil and gas, mining, power generation and distribution, robotics and artificial intelligence, biomedical technology, information technology, and software development.
