Overview
This three-year study programme offers foreign languages and cross-cultural studies of the regions of Central Europe. Graduates will have mastered at least two languages of the region in both spoken and written form (with the options of Hungarian, German, Polish, Slovenian and Slovak for foreigners; the language offer changes annually depending on availability and the number of enrolled students) The students will gain a general competence in area studies, including the history and culture of the Central European region, as well as elementary theoretical and methodological knowledge of linguistics, literary and translation studies. Students of the programme develop theoretical knowledge, practical skills and abilities, as well as additional academic knowledge, skills and abilities.
Programme Structure
Courses of the programme are divided into three main categories: Compulsory Courses, Compulsory Elective Courses and Elective Courses. Compulsory courses provide students with basic introductions of the history, culture, linguistics and politics of Central European area. Compulsory Elective Courses are mainly designed for cultivating students’ language skills, which are further divided into six blocks: Slovak Language, German Language, Hungarian Language, Polish Language, Slovenia Language and other Optional Subjects. Elective Courses are offered to students to broaden their eyesight and keep building the structure of their knowledge. Students do not have to choose only elective courses of the study program Central European Studies but are allowed to take elective courses of other departments of the Faculty of Arts.

General requirements
Application deadline for the online application form is February 28. Application form submitted after the application deadline will not be included in the selection process. After an application applies for studies, he/she will be informed by a letter about the time and place of the entrance examination for studies (approximarely mid of March). In accordance with the Faculty of Arts’ admission proceedings rules, all applicants will be admitted without taking an entrance examination in case fewer than, or the same number of applicants as has been stipulated, apply for the study. In case higher number than of applicants as has been stipulated, apply for the study, the entance exams (English test) will be conducted through SCIO platform. The information whether the entrance exams will be conducted will be send to all applicants no later then the end of March.
