Key facts
- The Teaching ESL Linguistics program is in the Department of Linguistics within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Simon Fraser University.
- While the Certificate by itself is not a specific employment credential, it constitutes basic preparation for teaching English language skills to adult learners.
- The certificate alone does not allow the holder to teach in the K-12 system. The certificate also provides preparation for further studies in applied linguistics and TESL.

- All applicants must meet the university's English Language Requirements
- All applicants must meet the university's Quantitative and Analytical Skills requirements
- All students must present a minimum grade of C-/60% in a junior or senior level acceptable Math course
- Graduation from a university-preparatory program at a senior high school
- Submit a transcript which includes grades for all courses completed and final grades for the first semester of Senior Year. (An admission average is calculated on final year results.)
