Overview
The Medical Degree English Program at Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is delivered on campus and clinical medicine practice in 16 hospitals of Athens. This programme will provide students with the following learning objectives:
- Medicine Knowledge: Basic knowledge in biomedical, clinical, clinical laboratory, technological, epidemiological, public health, health sciences and other health related social sciences is expected of students who graduate from the N.K.U.A. Medical Degree Program. They should also be able to recognize and assess new data, grasp emerging technologies and apply them to address clinical issues, provide care and treatment for individuals and populations, carry out scientific research, and produce new knowledge.
- Self- evaluation and Lifelong Learning: Since medical science and technology are continually improving, our graduates must be realistic about the boundaries of their knowledge in medicine, public health, health sciences and clinical skills. As a result, they must actively pursue lifelong learning opportunities to further their education in the field of medicine and develop their capabilities.
- Professionalism: Our graduates are expected to uphold high levels of professionalism, reliability, conscientiousness, integrity, and accountability, and to incorporate the fundamentals of medicine ethics into their daily work. They should also have enough self-awareness and be able to identify and address any ethical issues that come up in their dealings with patients and their families, their colleagues, and society at large.

The number of clinics in different hospitals deal with different areas of medicine. e.g 7 in surgery, 7 in pathology, 2 in radiology, etc. Students rotate from the 6th semester until the 12th in all areas of medicine and will get trained in all areas of medicine, surgery, cardiology, internal medicine, radiology, etc for 7 semesters.
Τhe National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and its School of Medicine have launched a 6-year (360 ECTS) Medical Degree in English Program available only to foreign nationals (of EU and non-EU countries). The program was certified with honors by the National Higher Education Authority and it is similar to the recently reformed and certified program in Greek language. Courses are delivered in English by highly-cited researchers and professors, which involve various areas of medicine, publich health and health science, working at the edges of modern medicine in 90 Medical Departments and laboratories located in the University campus, and in 16 University Hospitals which provide daily, high-quality health services in the Athens metropolitan area.
In order to obtain the Medical degree, it will be required to be successfully examined in 48 compulsory and 12 elective courses distributed in 12 teaching semesters; the first 5 semesters include pre-clinical courses and exercises, the next 4 include clinical courses and training and the last 3 semesters concern all-day clinical training in hospitals (shadowing at hospital residents) in main clinical specialties.

General requirements
The program is addressed exclusively to foreign nationals of EU and non-EU countries (National ID card and passport will be required for proof). Eligible applicants should have attended the final two classes of high school (or equivalent school) in a foreign country and should have obtained a high school diploma (June 2024 or earlier) or other equivalent secondary education diploma. Eligible applicants should have obtained or expect to obtain at least one of the following:
