Overview

The Interior Design (Hons) programme at Solent University is supported by a group of employer partners who are actively involved in mentoring, helping past students to secure roles in a range of top London interior design businesses.

Students are encouraged to build these skills during independent industry work placements or by undertaking the unique work based learning unit, as well as throughout the course’s curriculum of lectures, seminars and practical workshops. The course team are able to support students as they search for work placements by tapping into their professional network. 

Career Opportunities

Graduates are prepared for careers in a number of fields within the design sector including both residential and commercial interior design, product design, graphic visualisation and design consultancy.

Interior design is an exciting, varied career concerned with creating beautiful but functional well planned spaces, including the interior products within it. Using imaginative and creative ideas, colours, patterns, textures, light and space, graduates will be able to model and manipulate the structure of the space, design interior products as well as designing the décor.

English Language Requirements

    The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

General Requirements

  • 96 - 112 UCAS tariff points from A-levels or equivalent
  • A minimum of two completed A-levels, a BTEC Extended Diploma at MMM or BTEC Diploma at DM or equivalent qualification, or a combination of qualifications which comply with the minimum entry requirement of 96 UCAS points.
  • Applications from mature students and non-standard applicants may also be considered.
  • Applicants will be required to send an electronic portfolio.
  • Direct entry to year two may be offered to holders of an HND or HNC in an appropriate subject.
  • Alternative entry to this course is available through the Design Foundation Year.
  • Applicants will be required to submit an e-portfolio.
