Program Details
Throughout the length of the Adult Nursing(Hons) at University of Cumbria you will be introduced to essential knowledge that a nurse is required to understand to enable the delivery of effective person centred care. This will include introduction to and development of, knowledge of biological sciences, pathophysiology, pharmacology, medicine management, communication, professional, ethical and legal requirements, health promotion, knowledge of evidence led practice along with an advancing range of clinical skills that will be developed whilst on placement and in the University setting.
On this course you will:
- Develop and accomplish the knowledge and skills you need to practise and provide evidenced based and compassionate care as a registered nurse.
- Develop skills of assessment, clinical decision making and managing complex care in a variety of settings.
- Learn and work alongside all fields of nursing and the multi-disciplinary team whilst on placement and recognise the contribution of the different health professional’s role and expertise.
- Develop skills through a range of nursing placements that will be a mixture of hospital and community settings and through skills teaching and simulated practice.
- Prepare you for a future leadership role in nursing practice.

- A-levels: CCC-BBB
- T-levels: P (C+ in the Core) – M All subjects accepted, however we recommend T level Healthcare Science or Health for entry to this course
- Access to HE: 45 Credits at Merit – 24 Credits at Distinction & 21 at Merit
- CACHE Technical Level 3 and Level 3 Extended Diploma: C - B
- OCR Cambridge Technical & Edexcel/Pearson BTEC Level 3 (National) Extended Diploma: MMM – DDM
- Scottish Highers: 96-120 UCAS Tariff Points preferably from 4 Highers
- Irish LC Highers: 96-120 UCAS Tariff Points preferably from 4 Irish Leaving Certificate Highers
- Other experience: NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (Pre 2014 with 2 years health care setting work experience, post 2014 alongside another Level 3 qualification) Experience in health/social care related settings such as a hospital or primary care health centre to application are preferred

You will be able to apply for the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing course during Semester 1 of the foundation year.
