Overview
The Law - Corporate Law (Hons) course from University of Gloucestershire has been designed to allow students to engage with the numerous aspects of law, including both the theoretical underpinning as well as practical execution and critical analysis of the law. Our commitment to developing the skills as well intellectual ability of our students leads to high levels of student satisfaction with the programme.
The Corporate Law pathway will enable you to tailor your studies to obtain specialist knowledge relating to corporate law and practice. By the end of their studies, students on the Corporate Law pathway will have specialised legal knowledge on the formation of businesses and operations within the business, including employment issues, trading laws and protection of intellectual property. You will also have the opportunity to advise clients via the Law Clinic on corporate law issues and undertake an extended piece of research via the dissertation module on a self-selected corporate law topic.
You’ll take part in engaging and stimulating teaching through our interactive and challenging teaching sessions which focus not only on the letter of the law, but also the practical application and critique of it.
Adopting both practice-based and research-led teaching means students have the opportunity to be taught by subject specialists and experience the most recent developments in the law, whilst also grappling with the social and political implications of legal changes.
Through lectures, seminars and group work, you’ll put your learning to the test in class debates and mooting sessions. You’ll learn how to argue a case effectively in court, interview clients and negotiate agreements, benefitting from simulated trials and tribunals in our dedicated Moot Court Room. You can also take part in both internal and external mooting competitions and become part of our successful alumni of previous winners.
Put your theory into practice by advising real life clients as part of our assessed Law Clinic. You’ll have the opportunity to offer legal advice under the supervision of a solicitor, preparing you to be an autonomous and confident legal professional for practice when you graduate. You could also spend a year on placement through the four year sandwich course option.
