Overview

Throughout the Fine Art (Hons) course from University of Gloucestershire you’ll develop a broad range of technical and practical artistic skills. These include drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital technologies, photography, video, performance, text and sound.

In the creative community, you’ll explore the practical and conceptual possibilities of a range of different forms and media. We do this together through four distinct ways of making and thinking: Drawing, Proactivity, Studio and Curiosity. Through these, the course develops entrepreneurial and inventive creative practitioners.

This community focuses on collaboration and fun, and we have placement opportunities in therapeutic practices, education, artists’ studios, theatre, galleries, and museums.

You’ll get the chance to showcase your work in exhibitions and visit galleries through the international trips. In your first year you’ll enjoy a residential, working and living together with professional artists on an annual landscape residency.

Career opportunities:

Emphasising both traditional methods and contemporary practices, the curriculum prepares students for creative working lives, integrating innovative art pedagogy and entrepreneurship.

All the Fine Art students participate in a work placement in their second year. We have placements available in a wide range of creative careers, including art therapy and prescription, education, artists’ studios, theatre and film, museums and galleries.

96 – 120 UCAS tariff points, CCC – BBB at A levels, MMM – DDM at BTEC, or a Merit in your T-Level.

English Language or Literature and Maths Grade 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) are normally required.
We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants, although some entry requirements may still apply for Professionally Accredited Courses. We accept Access to Higher Education Diplomas and make offers on an individual basis.
