Overview

Throughout the Computer Games Programming (Part-Time) (Hons) course from University of Gloucestershire you’ll have created game mechanics and taken part in a game jam. And by the end of the year you’ll have created a batch of projects, including space navigation, a character creator and your first collaborative game.

You’ll study both C# and C++ programming languages and develop projects in Unity and Unreal game engines from week 1. As you progress through the course, you’ll also learn Godot, render programming languages and build projects using VR and mobile devices.

Career opportunities:

Graduates of the course have become games programmers, game developers, software engineers, engine programmers, technical artists.

In your second year, you’ll take the module Professional Awareness, which will help you to develop a strong CV and portfolio, improve your interview skills and give you experience working as a contractor. Then, you might take on the placement year before continuing to the final year, working in industry for a year or working for our internal Games Research Team.

Games Programming students have previously landed exciting placements with industry leaders like Unity, Sumo Digital, Team17, TT Odyssey, and Playground Games.

104 UCAS tariff points, BCC at A levels, DMM at BTEC or a Merit in your T-Level.

English Language or Literature and Maths Grade 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) are normally required.

We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants, although some entry requirements may still apply for Professionally Accredited Courses. We accept Access to Higher Education Diplomas and make offers on an individual basis.
