Overview
The Education - YNTEP at the University of Regina is a transformative degree designed to prepare the next generation of primary school teachers. This collaborative programme focuses on delivering a curriculum of consequence that respects and integrates Yukon First Nation history and culture into modern pedagogy.
Established in 1989, this initiative was born from the vision of First Nation Chiefs, Elders, and community leaders. It remains deeply committed to nurturing educational practices that support social justice and anti-racist orientations. Students are encouraged to develop a critical consciousness while exploring their own positionality within the education system.
The curriculum is specifically tailored to address the unique needs of northern communities, ensuring graduates can lead for change.
