Overview
The graduate can continue in the second stage of studies or find employment in specialized workplaces that provide care with the application of prosthetic, orthotic, calceotic devices and all compensatory devices. It is a study programme with a wide coverage throughout the country.
Learning outcomes
- A graduate of the Prosthetics and Orthotics study programme from The Technical University of Kosice (TUKE) demonstrates knowledge in the field of design, construction and application of technical orthopedic aids in the field of prosthetics, orthotics as well as calceotic systems.
- They have knowledge about the diagnosis of the human musculoskeletal system, which he uses and interprets in the design of aids and interdisciplinary communication with clinical practice. In the design and construction of aids, he also applies his broad knowledge in the field of biomechanics.
- His competence also includes communication with the patient at a professional level, but also the ability to interpret the relevant facts in a form suitable for a lay listener.
- The graduate is able to search, process and obtain the necessary information from professional publications in electronic database systems and further apply this knowledge in communication and argumentation with the professional public at a professional level. Based on this knowledge and interdisciplinary cooperation, he makes ethically and socially responsible decisions with the aim of providing and ensuring the best possible and most appropriate care for the patient.
- Graduates of the study programme have knowledge of conventional procedures for taking measurements and manufacturing orthopedic aids, but they also have knowledge and skills in the field of innovative approaches using 3D scanning and aid design in a software environment.
- The graduate has developed educational skills with a high degree of independence and is thus ready, based on the analysis of professional information, to propose procedures for complex patient care as well as to creatively approach the solution of potential problems of an interdisciplinary nature.

- a completed application for university studies of the first level
- a certified copy of the completed secondary education with a certified translation into the Slovak language
- the decision on recognition of completed education (validation) issued by the Regional Office Košice, Department of Education, Zádielska 1, 040 33 Košice
- a certified copy of the transcript of records covering all the years of secondary education with a certified translation into Slovak. If the length of secondary education studies exceeds four years then a certified copy of transcript of records covering the last four years of study at secondary school is required
- Curriculum Vitae in Slovak (or English, according to the language in which the applicant will study) signed by the applicant
- a copy of passport
- a proof of payment of the handling fee for the admission procedure (can be submitted to the Study department no later than the date of enrolment)
