Overview
How you will learn
You will be taught by a core team of experienced and highly-qualified tutors together with a wide-ranging team of more than 30 tutors and vocal teachers.
You will join a cohort of over 400 student performers and showcase public performances with professional production teams for regional tour and major art festivals as well as creating and premiering new commissions.
For those interested the Musical Theatre (Triple Threat) (Hons) course at University of Chichester offers optional technical and producing routes, giving you the opportunity to gain the skills needed to pursue a successful career in stage management as you cover topics including sound, lighting and costume, and arts management and producing.
You will receive training in every aspect of Musical Theatre and focus on developing your technique and skills in acting, singing and dance equally.
At the end of your first year you will take part in a showcase presentation assessment and an informal audition to be placed into one of two companies during your second year. These auditions lead to a public performance in The Alexandra Theatre, Bognor Regis.
In the second year you will continue to develop your acting, singing and dance in regular classes and be able to choose specialised modules in Stage Management, Technical Theatre and Arts Management, or Producing.
At the end of your second year you will be placed into one of three companies by audition: Musical Theatre Tour, Musical Theatre Commission or Musical Theatre Festival.
Events Management students on the Arts Management route have a further opportunity to develop a short project within a variety of workplaces which have included BBC local radio and a world-music agency in the past.
If you have studies in higher education previously you can audition for top-up entry into the third year through audition and a sufficient number of credits (240 as a guidance).
