Overview
The broad degree in Theology, Philosophy and Religion (Hons) degree from Canterbury Christ Church University will introduce you to Biblical studies, the history and interpretation of doctrine, philosophical theology and a range of other topics, so that you can engage in lively debate and explore surprising and challenging questions.
You'll be able to immerse yourself in theology, stretch your mind and become an independent, critical thinker. From studying political theology, religion and culture to exploring practical and ethical issues, you'll follow a broad range of topics and will have opportunities to explore more deeply your specific areas of interest.
All about the course
The Theology course has a dedicated focus on Christian traditions and you'll also study elements of other religions, philosophy and ethics.
You'll start by exploring Christianity, biblical studies, philosophy, ethics and world religion.
In Years 2 and 3, you'll deepen your knowledge and work with increasing independence. You'll be able to select optional modules enabling you to focus on particular areas of theology, which you'll study in depth.
Using the the research and analytical skills that you develop throughout the course, you'll carry out an individual study/research in your final year, enabling you to explore an aspect or issue in theology in depth.
As part of the course, you'll have the opportunity to apply to study for a year in North America. As spaces are limited, you'll follow a competitive, internal application process.
