Overview
You’ll use a range of digital cameras including Canon, Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro and the Arri Alexa Mini LF (used in the BAFTA best British winning film, 1917). Other equipment includes Steadicam, Mix Pre-3 (portable sound recorders) and a range of lighting. Post Production facilities include AVID Media Composer. You’ll also have access to Pro-Tools and the full Adobe Creative Suite.
Regular visits from working professionals will enrich your studies and offer up-to-the-minute insights into the industry. We have guest speakers from: Molinare post-production house, BBC, ITV, freelance CCCU alumni filmmakers and screenwriters and Festival Formula.
What you'll study
You'll spend around 70% of the course learning the practical elements of film production with the remaining 30% of time studying theory. Throughout the Film Production course from Canterbury Christ Church University, you'll be able to develop your technical and creative skills to a professional level and use your creative flair to complete a compelling production in your final year. This important project is a great opportunity for you to showcase your talents and develop your experience to help you with seeking employment.
As part of the course you will gain gain the "Applied Skills for a Sustainable Media Industry" certificate from industry body, albert, as part of your degree, demonstrating that you have developed an understanding of environmentally friendly film production. It is embedded into the programme in year 3 through the Professional Perspectives in the Creative Industries employability module.
