During your studies, you carry out practical assignments from real companies, working in groups and coached by lecturers and professionals with relevant professional experience. It’s a way of learning, an educational concept, we call DesignBased Education. You learn to draw on feedback to adapt your ideas and become more flexible, while also developing your teamwork and leadership skills.

Course structure:
- Year 1 – Explore where your talents and interests lie in the broad field of multimedia design. In your first year, you delve into new disciplines, learn from others and work with a film studio, game studio, print agency and digital agency for web & app design and programming.
- Year 2 – In your second, third, and final year, you take control over your study path by choosing the studios you want to follow and when. Explore and develop creative disciplines of interest through challenges, workshops, and projects linked to chosen studios, like Web and App Design, Visual Design, Game Development, 3D, Music & Sound, Film, and Photography.
- Year 3 – Broaden your horizon or specialise your skills by taking a minor. Make optimal use of all possibilities we have to offer in terms of Exchange and Grand Tour minors.
- Year 4 - Spend the first half year to finetune your knowledge and skills and prepare yourself for your graduation project.

General requirements
Academic
To be admitted to a 4-year bachelor programme, you will need to meet the admission requirements as outlined in Dutch Higher Education law. You need a diploma that is at least equivalent to an NLQF 4/EQF 4 level (Dutch/European Qualifications Framework) and comparable to the required Dutch diploma.
Language
All non-EU/EEA applicants are required to submit an English proficiency test. NHL Stenden accepts 4 kinds of official language tests in accordance with the Code of Conduct International Student in Dutch Higher Education:
- Academic IELTS 6.0 (with an advised minimum of 5.0 for each skill)
- TOEFL 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based). Original test results must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to NHL Stenden. The TOEFL institution code for NHL Stenden is C652.
- Cambridge ESOL score FCE-C (169, or higher)
- TOEIC 670 (Listening and Reading) and 290 (Speaking and Writing)

Funding

NL Scholarship
The NL Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. These scholarships award selected international undergraduate students from outside the EU/EEA with a one-time financial contribution of € 5000.
NHL Stenden Excellency Scholarship
The NHL Stenden Excellency Scholarship is a performance-based scholarship for 1st and 2nd year non-EU/EEA students at NHL Stenden.
