Overview

As a graduate of this Welding Engineering Technology - Inspection (Optional Co-op) programme from Conestoga College , you are eligible to apply directly for certification under CSA W178.2 as a Level 1 Welding Inspector. The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) conditionally recognizes this programme as meeting all the academic requirements for certification in the Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) category. This programme also covers all the learning outcomes for Level 1 of the Welder (456A) and Metal Fabricator - Fitter (437A) apprenticeship programmes in Ontario. If you decide to pursue an apprenticeship in either trade, you may be exempt from this level of in-school training. The optional co-op stream includes four consecutive four-month co-op work terms.

Careers

Graduates are prepared for employment in the welding inspection and quality assurance field for both construction and fabrication shop environments. Additional opportunities exist in welding procedure research and development, metallurgical laboratories, technical sales, and welding shop management.
On average, 70% of graduates from 2020 to 2022 found employment within six months of graduation.
