Overview
This one-year accelerated option allows you to build on your current credentials, upgrading your education or choosing a career specialization. This Social Service Worker - Immigrants and Refugees (Accelerated) program at Seneca Polytechnic consists of a seven-week summer semester starting in early May, followed by a regular academic year starting the day after Labour Day and concluding in mid-April.
Learning through a critical and anti-oppressive lens, you will graduate prepared to support immigrants and refugees from diverse backgrounds. The program, which is grounded in equity, social justice, and anti-oppression principles, provides insights into pre-migration conditions and how to offer meaningful support to individuals and families throughout the migration and integration process.

General requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or a mature applicant
- English: Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent course
- To take advantage of this accelerated program option, the following prior education is required:
- Ontario university or college degree or equivalent, or an Ontario college diploma or equivalent
- Applicants with at least two years of successful completion of postsecondary credits may also be considered. If you are a high school applicant or have not previously studied at a postsecondary institution, explore our Social Service Worker – Immigrants and Refugees (SSWI) program.
- Applicants with credentials from outside of Canada must provide a "course-by-course" credential assessment from a recognized agency such as WES (World Education Services) or ICAS (International Credential Assessment Service), including a Postsecondary English course or equivalent.
