Overview
The supply chain sector is critically important to Canada's economy. The sector employs approximately 870,000 Canadians, accounts for an estimated $500 billion in total export goods from Canada, and is responsible for planning, coordinating and moving more than $1 trillion worth of goods each year. Forecasts project more than 27,000 supply chain positions in Canada sit unfilled, and another estimated 66,000 openings in the foreseeable future. This Business Administration - Supply Chain and Operations Management programme is offered at Conestoga College .
About the programme
To introduce agility and flexibility into today's complex supply chain environments, organizations require diverse, collaborative professionals who can make critical decisions and implement new technologies that streamline operations — from development to fulfillment.
This program takes a hands-on, project-oriented approach and provides you with opportunities to work with current business and industry partners. You will participate in many exciting projects, culminating in 2 applied capstone courses during your final term of study. You will get hands-on experiential learning using ERP systems, decision support models, and integrated analytics. You will also work with an industry partner from our local community to complete an onsite value stream mapping project for a real company. Some students receive job offers from their industry partners upon completion.
After graduation, you can apply to positions such as transportation manager, manufacturing manager, tracking and scheduling coordination occupation, production and transportation logistics coordinator, air transport ramp attendant, or transportation route and crew schedule.
Your future career:
This program provides training and hands-on learning experiences to students in all areas of this exciting field including purchasing, continuous improvement and lean concepts, inventory, technology, logistics, leadership - all through a Systems Thinking lens.
- Graduates of the program receive a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certificate.
- This program has been approved for advanced standing towards attaining the Certified Supply Chain Leader (CSCL) designation. In addition, graduates may qualify for transfer credits that could be used for exemption from certain components of the CSCL graduate program.
- You can achieve the ASCM CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) professional designation while at school.
- Graduates can receive exemptions from the business course requirements within the Certified Logistics Professional designation (CCLP) program, administered by CITT (Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation).
- Graduates are eligible for acceptance into the Certified Supply Chain Leader (CSCL) designation graduate program, administered by National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders
Partnerships with professional associations including National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders, Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), Ontario Public Buyers Association (OPBA) and Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT) will provide you with opportunities to network with professionals.
