Overview
You will cover a diverse range of topics, including pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacogenomics, physiology, chemistry, genetics, immunology, and drug development. You will be able to tailor your studies to your own interests with optional modules including cardiovascular science, diabetes, cancer pharmacology, reproductive biology, neuroscience and nanotoxicology with the Medical Pharmacology with a Foundation Year (Hons) at Swansea University.
You will develop excellent analytical and project management skills, and learn how to design experiments and plan work programmes to prepare you for your future careers.
Career
Medical Pharmacology has been identified as a critical undergraduate degree, required to fill the current work force and skills gaps in medicine and pharmaceutical development.
You could also pursue a career or further study in other fields including academic and industrial research, regulation, patent law, and medical writing.

General requirements
- Applicants will need to achieve 96 UCAS points by attaining one of the following qualifications or Swansea University approved equivalents.
- A-levels/Welsh Baccalaureate: Minimum CCC. Chemistry is essential plus ideally one other STEM subject*.
- BTEC: Minimum DMM or above. A good Biology or Chemistry profile is essential plus ideally a good profile in one other STEM subject*
- Irish Leaving Certificate: Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Scottish Highers: Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- IB: Minimum overall score of 26. Higher Level Chemistry is essential plus ideally one other STEM subject* both at Grade 4 and above.
- As well as one of the above qualifications, all applicants are required attain:
- GCSE: English/Welsh and Maths minimum Grade C/4**.
