Overview

This Childhood and Youth Studies (English Medium) (Hons) degree from Bangor University  examines the full spectrum of childhood and youth experiences from conception to the transition to adulthood. This includes adolescence, children’s rights, development, learning, play, identity, safeguarding, mental health and diversity.

Careers

The breadth and depth of this multidisciplinary Childhood and Youth Studies degree prepares you for a wide range of careers in education, psychology, sociology, allied health, and social care in the public and private sector.

Building both your confidence and your professional network, you will have regular contact and support with children’s services providers and specialists in the field. This includes schools, social care organisations, and children’s rights organisation. You’ll attend workshops on issues as diverse as children’s literacy, children and technology and children’s rights.

During the degree you will have opportunities to hear guest lectures from specialists, which have previously included the Children’s Commissioner in Wales, Senedd Cymru’s Children, Young People and Education Committee, and the Observatory on the Human Rights of Children. Most important of all, you will work alongside employers and service providers in fields relating to childhood and youth, including education, care services and agencies that support provision for young people.
