Adventure Sport Science (Hons) Bangor University

Overview

It combines essential sport science knowledge – in physiology, psychology, leadership and coaching – with insight into adventure tourism and practical skills in a wide range of adventure sport disciplines.

Our staff enjoy an international reputation in sport and exercise psychology, strength and conditioning, motor control and learning, clinical and exercise physiology in extreme environments. You’ll learn in various field-based settings, such as land and water-based activities, as well as work-based environments and state-of-the-art labs, including high altitude and environmental chambers.

Careers

This Adventure Sport Science (Hons) course from Bangor University  is ideal preparation for a career in the outdoors for the armed forces, as an instructor, exploration or expedition leader, in outdoor education or development training, and in education and recreation generally.

While continuously developing your own adventure and outdoor skills, you’ll gain an understanding of the benefits and risks of using the outdoors as a learning or recreational environment and how to safely manage outdoor and adventure activities.

This degree can take you all over the world. Our graduates can be found working as instructors, teachers, sport scientists, outdoor activity directors and even a yacht skipper. A selection of organisations they work for includes Surf-Lines, Sunsail, Outreach Rescue, the YMCA, Trirabad Outdoor Educational Centre, Cotswold Outdoor, British Army and Royal Air Force.
