Bangor University is next to the Irish Sea, Menai Strait and mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia), your studies take place within easy reach of a diverse range of habitats, soil types, climate and topography, ideal for field work. Extensive facilities for practical classes include Europe’s largest underground soil laboratory, a natural history museum with various vertebrate and invertebrate specimens, our own botanical garden and 252 hectare site for field research and the study farm at Henfaes Research Centre.

As a biotechnologist, you could develop solutions to combat disease, reduce our impact on the environment, feed the hungry, reduce our energy demands, provide cleaner energy, and produce safer, cleaner and more efficient industrial processes.

The biological sciences more generally offer an exciting career, one which could take you to a range of different environments all over the world. This includes hospital and public health laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, environmental agencies, conservation organisations, the utilities industry, food and drinks companies, research institutes, schools, universities, out in the field or working with plants and animals.
