In Linguistics, this focuses on how we learn a language, how language varies between speakers and geographic regions, and how it influences thinking and the ways in which we interact we each other. Psychology helps you understand how, why and what happens when our brain and body systems stop working so well, are damaged, or develop in divergent ways.

Careers

This Linguistics and Psychology (Hons) course at Bangor University is excellent preparation for the wide range of careers that require a solid understanding of human behaviour, development and communication or language-focused professional skills.

Some of our graduates remain very much focused on language itself. Many go on to train as language teachers at primary or secondary school level. Another popular career is that of translator or interpreter, either freelance or embedded in a company, with opportunities both in the UK and further afield.

Offers are tariff based, 104 - 128 tariff points from a Level 3 qualification* e.g.:

A Levels: A science subject (e.g. Maths, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Psychology, Science) preferred but not required. General Studies and Key Skills not normally accepted.

BTEC National Extended Diploma: DMM - DDM

Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma: DMM - DDM

City & Guilds Advanced Technical Extended Diploma (1080): considered on a case-by-case basis

International Baccalaureate Diploma: grade H5 in English Literature/Language and grade H5 in a Science subject preferred but not required

Access: pass required

Welsh Baccalaureate: We will accept this qualification in conjunction with other level 3 qualifications

T Levels: T Levels in a relevant subject considered on a case-by-case basis
