Overview
This Bachelor in Economics (Hons) from University of Johannesburg will prepare students to reflect on their own economical applications to assess the effect thereof in the holistic context of Economics as a social science. Lastly, it will prepare them for further study in Economics as a science.
Rules of access
Only the applicants who successfully completed the compulsory entrance module in mathematics will be considered for final admission to the honours programme depending on space availability. The department requires the completion of a bridging programme should students not comply with the rules of access regarding the specific subject knowledge. The School of Economics reserves the right to alter the entrance requirements.

- A potential student must be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics or an Advanced Diploma in Economics, with an average of 65% for Economics 3 (NQF level 7) and an average of 65% for either Econometrics 3 (NQF level 7) or Statistics 3 (NQF level 7), to be considered for entrance into the honours programme.
- A potential student in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics or an Advanced Diploma in Economics, with an average of 60-64% for Economics 3 (NQF level 7) and / or without Econometrics 3 (NQF level 7) or Mathematics 3 (NQF level 7) or Statistics 3 (NQF level 7), may be considered for entrance
