Overview
For your degree in English , you’ll study the best and most memorable works of literature. You’ll read English texts both old and new, epic and intimate. Throughout this course, you'll build your research and writing skills and strengthen your understanding of the ways humans make meaning.
You'll explore modules that cover everything from Arthurian legends to contemporary cli-fi (climate fiction). You'll study the Shakespearean stage to the American gothic, and the texts you read will take you from the Forest of Arden to the cities of Zambia. As part of this programme you can:
- join one of 40 student-led performing arts groups
- take part in Writers in Conversation workshops
- use the unique collection of rare books at Chawton House Library and the Parkes Library and Archives
- learn a modern language at any level
- receive one-to-one tutorials on writing from our Royal Literary Fund Fellow
