Software Engineering

Overview

Through challenging Software Engineering curricula at Sichuan University and innovative courses that combines theory and practice, students will acquire a solid understanding of all aspects of software development, a profound comprehension of engineering economics and entrepreneurship in software practice, and a breadth of knowledge and skills in engineering, computer science, mathematics and complementary studies that will provide students a base for life-long learning. Each course is delivered in English by an expert in the subject, and generally includes weeks of classes, practices, and group work, where students learn and apply principles, tools, and techniques in a real-world project environment.

Requirements of Program

Through four years’ studies at university, students can obtain the following learning results and should be capable of:

• Applying knowledge in mathematics, natural sciences and engineering;
• Designing and conducting experiments, as well as analysis and interpretation of experimental data;
• Designing systems, components or processes that meet requirements under realistic constraints such as economy, environment, society, politics, ethnic, health and safety, productivity and sustainability;
• Playing a role in multidisciplinary teams;
• Identifying, formalizing description and solving engineering problems;
• Understanding professional and ethical responsibilities;
• Effective communication;
• Understanding the impact of engineering solutions on the global, economic, environmental and social environment;
• With the knowledge of contemporary issues;
• Applying necessary technology, skills and modern engineering tools in engineering practice;
• Transforming engineering concepts and theories into practical engineering applications;
• Recognizing the necessity of lifelong learning and the ability to engage in lifelong learning.
