You’ll be guided by key concepts and transdisciplinary themes and enjoy enriching, hands-on learning opportunities that promote discovery, exploration, and thinking about real-world issues.

Teacher candidates who successfully complete the requirements for the International Baccalaureate stream of the BEd program from from University of British Columbia, are recommended to the BC Teacher Regulation Branch for a professional teaching certificate and are eligible for the Level 1 International Baccalaureate Educator credential.

Many UBC BEd alumni go on to teach in local public and independent schools, while others decide to venture beyond BC’s Lower Mainland to teach in rural or international locations.
The concept of an educational setting is far reaching, and many alumni find careers in non-school-based contexts (i.e. arts organizations, science centres, non-profit organizations, etc.).
