Overview
The Design (Honours) programme from Conestoga College will ensure you have creative and visual acuity, and the knowledge of business strategy necessary to create design solutions for current and developing market.
Conestoga's Bachelor of Design is unique in Ontario, offering students an inter-professional perspective that blends visual design, entrepreneurship, and liberal studies courses with co-op opportunities, enhanced studio space, and access to advanced technology.
Limited enrolment and small class sizes ensure you have direct access to faculty with professional experience in the fields of visual design and business development.
As a comprehensive design programme, students take courses in typography, visual design, colour theory, design studio, drawing and illustration, photography, interactive design, as well as entrepreneurship, branding, marketing, business management, writing and presentation skills, and group dynamics.
The programme employs a project-based learning approach that addresses design and entrepreneurship skills, as well as a variety of prescient issues including accessibility, sustainability, and corporate and social responsibility. Students engage in dynamic studio projects for both in-class and live clients.
Careers
- Graduates will develop unique portfolios and be well prepared for positions involving design research, conceptual development, design implementation, and strategy and management. Graduates may find employment in diverse roles in design studios, ad agencies, corporate and not-for-profit communication departments, and new business ventures.
- Graduates have Master's degree completion opportunities in York University's Master of Design programme.

Other requirements
General requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older
- A minimum of six (6) Grade 12 courses at the U or M level with a minimum cumulative average of 65%, one of which must be Grade 12 compulsory English (ENG4U) with a minimum grade of 70% (Higher averages are often required for admission due to competition for available spaces in the program.)
- It is recommended that one of the six courses be any U level mathematics.
- Applicants not meeting the admission requirements may pursue a variety of different pathways into the Bachelor of Design degree including Design Foundations and Media Foundations.
- Graduates of three-year advanced graphic design diploma programs may be eligible for admission into third year after completing a bridge. Assessment will be done on a case-by-case basis. Contact Conestoga's Credit Transfer Office for information.

All students entering this program must:
- have a laptop computer that meets minimum specified requirements
- own and maintain their laptop
- bring their laptop on the first day of classes.
- REQUIRED: USBC Thumb Drive, USBC 2TB Hard Drive, Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) or Mirrorless camera capable of video and audio recording
