Overview

The  Mechanical Engineering Technology programme from Humber Polytechnic  builds upon the solid technical foundation of the Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma programme. The manufacturing and basic design skills acquired in the first two years are enhanced in the third year by focusing on detailed design and advanced manufacturing technologies. The programme offers a co-op option to integrate work with learning and provides graduates with a chance to apply their skills in the industry. The third year features a capstone project in which students liaise with industrial partners to produce a working prototype and a full design and manufacturing package for industry.

• Our graduates are able to perform mechanical design and equipment/technology selection for mechanical systems; support fabrication and engineering staff, vendors, clients processes, tools and inspection requirements; prepare preliminary and final cost estimates; and prepare and evaluate production processes, costing, tool design and inspection requirements.
• Graduates find employment opportunities in a variety of industrial sectors including manufacturing, automotive, energy, mining, service, food and packaging, transportation, and maintenance. They work in:

• drafting and design, equipment testing, mechanical equipment installation and consulting engineering offices
• programming, cost estimating, quality control and inspection, machinery sale, and in the metal cutting industries
