Astrophysics - Undergraduate Foundation Programme from ONCAMPUS UK North prepares you for a progression degree at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan)
We realise that the situation around the world is changing all the time. If for whatever reason you cannot start your programme as planned, your place will be deferred to the next available start date. Provision will be made to continue and complete the programme online if required to ensure you will be able to compete your programme successfully and progress as planned to your university degree.
Who is this programme designed for?
This Undergraduate Foundation Programme – Business, Economics, Finance and Management from ONCAMPUS UK North is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to a wide range of undergraduate studies at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
All students who successfully complete the UFP are guaranteed placement on a suitable programme of undergraduate study at UCLan. The UFP is set at level 3, which is equivalent to A-level standard in the UK. Students can also apply, through UCAS, to up to five other top UK universities on completion of their Foundation programme.
How long will I study for?
This programme lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, you will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.
English Language forms up to six hours of your timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if you need additional support. Students who are at or above the required English level for progression are likely to follow a reduced timetable.
Students will be expected to timetable self-study hours in addition to the classroom-based hours.
What will I study?
There are four academic pathways to choose from and you will study the pathway most suited to your chosen progression degree. Academic skills relevant to the specific subject area will be taught to fully prepare you for university study.
The pathways are: Business, Economics, Finance and Management, Engineering & Physical Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences and Life Sciences.

- English requirements
- from 4.5 IELTS or equivalent, with no single element less than 4.0, for 3-term UFP *
- * Extended programmes are available if you do not yet have the required English language level. This programme lasts 4 terms and includes an English language module (ELM) followed by the 3 terms of Foundation required to apply for entry to the first year of your undergraduate degree.
- 60% in academic modules for progression to BSc. 65% minimum in academic modules including Maths or Physics at 70% (both Maths and Physics are required) for MPhys.
