Overview
The first year in the Cinema and Media Engineering programme at Politecnico di Torino is characterised by basic subjects in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, human sciences and English.
Key facts
- In addition to courses in the field of computer science and electronics, with complementary mathematics, in the second year students also study multimedia production techniques, media economics and the languages of cinema and entertainment.
- The third year concentrates on topics specific to cinema engineering, incorporating instruction in telecommunications and in computer science, such as computer graphics, with courses in the field of social sciences and cross-media, advertising and communication law.
- Career opportunities
- The objective of this course is to train a professional to be able to work in the area of cinema and media by responding to the innovation processes that characterise new enterprises and new contexts of digital production. Graduates have a multidisciplinary profile based on the use of typical engineering tools as well as on the application of knowledge derived from the world of social sciences, media, cinema and marketing.
- The Cinema and Communication Engineering degree programme, the only one of its kind in Italy or Europe, is unique in that it combines technological-applicative aspects with topics tied to the world of communication (a combination of a polytechnic and media education). The courses in Cinema and Communication Engineering offer an interdisciplinary approach to all the various aspects of communication: languages, the socio-economic context, the issues of enterprise, infrastructure technologies, cinematographic and media applications. This distinguishes this degree from those in Communication Sciences or DAMS, which have a more humanistic orientation.
