The Medicine course at Humanitas University is taught entirely in English. A basic knowledge of Italian is required during the clinical practice, at the third year. 

From the first year, theoretical interdisciplinary modules are integrated with hands-on experience and simulation activities. Clerkships commence in the 3rd year, when students can also access the The Virgilio Program.

The course is characterized by a multidisciplinary and integrated approach to teaching, therefore most individual courses are grouped into modules, with a total of 360 credits and 29 examinations, distributed into 12 semesters. Attendance is compulsory and is a prerequisite to taking exams.

General Requirements

  • 12 years of education
  • High school diploma
  • UK: at least 3 A-levels in Medicine and Science related subjects.
  • US: 3 APs (Advanced Placements) in Medicine and Science related subjects or two years of college education or one year of college education and 4 APs (as above)
  • Admissions test open only for non-European students:

    • Test day: 24th June (application deadline: June 17th)
    • Test day: 5th July (application deadline: June 28th)
  • Certificate of English proficiency is NOT required for admission purposes
  • Entry to the course is restricted by the Ministry of Education. Candidates are required to have obtained a Secondary School Diploma and are selected through the Humanitas IMAT test.

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.


  • In order to attract the most talented and motivated candidates, Humanitas University has established a merit based scholarship programme, with scholarships worth between 7.000 and 10.000 €/year each. In addition to this, Humanitas University also offers 4 Full scholarships for EU and Non EU students of the amount of 20.000€.
  • Humanitas University has available student house accomodation (240 rooms).
  • Each year the university      offers a few merit-based scolarships that aim to cover completely or      partially the annual tuition fees.
