Overview

The Forensic Psychology (Hons) programme of the University of Sunderland examines the five core areas of Psychology as specified by the British Psychological Society (BPS) in a unique and integrated way to allow for learning to be more applicable and relatable to your future career. You will explore how Psychology is applied to understanding offenders and forms of serious and violent offending, such as those a Forensic Psychologist might encounter in the field.

Employment

Forensic Psychologists are usually employed in fields such as criminal justice and rehabilitation, police, probation, prison service, legal sector, and other Psychology careers such as clinical psychology, educational psychology and as mental health practitioners.

Accreditation

This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Students who graduate with a 2:2 or above have Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership to the BPS which is an essential step to becoming a Forensic Psychologist

The typical offer is 104-120 UCAS Tariff points, from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A Levels, T Levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate. T Levels must be in a related subject.
You also need three passes at GCSE grade C or above. This must include maths and English language, or a minimum of Level 2 Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number. If you've studied for a GCSE that has a numerical grade, you'll need to achieve a grade 4 or above.
