The Information Technology program offered by The University of the West Indies is designed to provide IT graduates with the skills and knowledge to take on appropriate professional positions in information technology upon graduation and grow into leadership positions or pursue research or graduate studies in the field and to produce graduates who can become information technology professionals, able to work effectively at planning, implementing, configuring and maintaining an organization's computing infrastructure.

Applicants should possess 5 CXC subjects (grades 1-3), including Engish languge and mathematics) or the equivlaent, 2 for which should be at the advanced level CAPE, to qualify for the full time 3 year degree programme.
One of these advanced level courses should be in a science subject.
A teachers' college diploma, an associate's degree in mathematics, information technology or science or a pass in EC14C will be considered equivalent qualification for persons without CAPE passes.
