Description

This scholarship will be formally awarded only after the selected awardees have signed an OAS/UWI Acceptance Form, in which the awardees formally accept the scholarship and agree to its terms and conditions.

Benefits

The OAS Academic Scholarship Program (ASP) which offers scholarships of up to US $10,000 per academic year for the pursuit of master's Degrees, Doctoral Degrees, and Graduate Research leading to a graduate degree; and for the last two years of undergraduate studies solely to citizens and residents of the English-speaking Caribbean and Suriname. 

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship opportunity, an applicant must: 

  • Either provide an unconditional admission letter or a status letter from The University of the West Indies.
  • Be a citizen and/or permanent legal resident of any OAS member state.
  • Please note that OAS scholarships are not offered for studies in one’s country of citizenship or permanent legal residence. Citizens and/or permanent legal residents of Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will not be considered for these OAS scholarships at the University campus located in their country of citizenship or legal residence. Please note that this rule does not apply to the Global Campus since its programmes are fully online.

Applicants, who may access the online scholarship application form.

Either a UWI enrolment offer or status letter;

An official transcript indicating a GPA of 3.00 or higher; National Identification;

Two Letters from recommendation, one of which must be either from a University Lecturer, School;

Principal, School Registrar or a current Employer;

Two Essays, each of which must be not more than 500 words and must be based on the following questions: a) Describe how acquiring this academic degree will directly impact and enhance your professional  skills in your current job position.
