Overview

The English Literature (Hons) course at Liverpool John Moores University encourages students to become part of our vibrant academic community, to develop their own interests, and to develop high-level transferable skills that are highly sought after by a wide range of employers.

Employability

In the last three years, 75% of our students have graduated with a 2:1 or first class degree.

The English Literature graduates' excellent analytic and communication skills have ensured them positions in a wide variety of careers including film-making, journalism, publishing, advertising, marketing, museums and arts administration. Others have found employment in careers as wide ranging as industrial, retail, leisure, charity management, educational administration, accountancy, the social and Civil Services.

Teaching is not the main occupation for English Literature graduates but some use their degree to secure a place on PGDE / PGCE teacher-training courses, while others continue on to postgraduate study or research.
