About

The Law LLB (Hons) course offered at the Robert Gordon University aims to provide you with an academically rigorous, practical and diverse education in the discipline of Scots Law. The course provides you with the knowledge, required by the Law Society of Scotland, to enter the legal profession and the flexibility to tailor your subject profile to suit your intended career path.

Overview

At the Robert Gordon University studying the LLB Law (Hons)  you deal with combination of private and public law subjects and the development of key transferable skills will help equip you with the professional knowledge to meet the challenges and demands of the employment sectors, whether in the legal profession or elsewhere.

Practical experience is developed through oral presentations, group work, research and legal debating also known as mooting. You will have the opportunity to take part in internal, national and international mooting competitions across the world and benefit from our on-campus Moot Court.

Job Prospects

Our Law LLB degree opens the door to the legal profession – plus opportunities within the financial sector, civil service, oil and gas, banking, corporate consultancy, global business management, local government, trade unions and charitable organisations.

If you intend to become a solicitor, you can complete the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice (DPLP) at RGU. This is a one-year postgraduate qualification, which can be studied on a part-time basis, and is mandatory in order to practice as a solicitor in Scotland. Many of our graduates who have taken this route have an excellent record for securing quality employment in the legal profession.
