Overview

Year one

You will become acquainted with experts from Advertising, Event Management and PR,  and you will be introduced to the fundamentals of Marketing and Digital Marketing with Social Media.

You will begin with the fundamentals of analysing media, and explore the mind of the consumer in Behavioural Studies.   You will begin working in teams, make presentations and write effectively. By the end of year 1 you will be on the road to becoming a Marketing and Advertising professional.

Year two

You will aquire skills in design such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.  This will enable you to create effective promotional material. You will learn about the dynamic media industry and your Marketing expertise will be developed further.  You will learn how to analyse data for use in targeted marketing campaigns, a vital skill in today’s digital economy.

Year three 

Programme content will give you an in-depth understanding of key issues pertinent to the practitioner.  Working in a team, you will plan and stage a fundraising event for charity.  

You will learn how to build a website and link it to various social media for advertising and marketing communications campaigns. You will gain hands-on experience in Radio and Video Design and Production in our state of the art Advertising studio..

The industry project sponsored by leading global out of home Advertising agency, Kinetic Dublin will give students the opportunity to work on a real campaign. 

You might also want to avail of the optional opportunity to study in the Netherlands, France, Austria or Canada for one semester under the Erasmus +  programme.

Entry Requirements for the Honours Bachelor Degree of Arts:

  • Leaving Certificate with at least 2 H5’s in two Higher Level subjects, and a minimum of Grade O6 (Ordinary Level) in 4 other subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination, which must include Mathematics and English or Irish.
