Film and Digital Media University of Galway

Overview

This  Film and Digital Media programme at University of Galway  is the development of students’ creative and critical skills, positioning graduates to become content creators across a range of media platforms and giving them the entrepreneurial skills and flexibility required to work in today’s rapidly changing media environment. This course provides a comprehensive grounding in the theory and history of film and digital media as well as training in film practice, screenwriting, and digital development and design. 

Careers

This course prepares graduates for a career in the broad field of the creative industries, including film and television production, digital content creation, cultural administration, screenwriting and digital marketing. It also offers clear opportunities to pursue further study and research at postgraduate level, including the MA programme at the Huston MA in Film Studies: Theory and Practice.‌ 

Our BA Film & Digital Media opens doors to exciting careers in Ireland and beyond. Many graduates go on to work in the film and creative industry, where they use their practical skills in areas such as direction, screenwriting, camera and lighting, creative technologies, special effects and content creation.  

With their analytical abilities, they are also suited to work in a diverse range of areas related to the creative industries including UI/UX researcher, social media marketing, cultural administration, along with clear opportunities to pursue further study and research at postgraduate level.
