Learning outcomes
Apart from the buildings where we live and the roads and bridges that we use on a daily basis, society depends on the work of the civil Engineers for the supply of potable water, energy, waste management and others.
Overall, a civil engineer should be duly prepared and endowed with a solid foundation in theoretical aspects and subjects, such as mathematics and physics, which enable rational thinking and analysis of situations. In addition to this, professionals in the area need to follow a code of ethics and professional deontology.
Due to the relevance of their profession in society, civil engineers need to carry out their work in a responsible and thorough manner. A vital attribute for civil engineers is the ability to communicate and be a leader, as they frequently need to coordinate professionals from different areas.
