As environmental quality is a major public concern all over the world, exacerbated in Hong Kong and Asia by their particularly rapid economic development, more and more resources are required to protect and manage our environment. Thus, properly trained environmental engineers will be in increasing demand in the years to come.
Career prospects
Graduates of the BEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering program at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have opportunities to excel in a wide range of areas. They can pursue careers in government departments, such as the Environmental Protection Department, Water Supplies Department, and Drainage Supplies Department, and at various local and international environmental engineering companies. Graduates may also choose to work as technical and sales representatives for environmental businesses.
Accreditation
Engineering programs offered by HKUST are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. Through the Washington Accord, HKUST engineering degrees and those awarded by universities in Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States are mutually recognized.
