- A professional learning environment
At Sheridan, we've applied interior design principles to our own learning environments. Our studios are designed to look and feel like professional spaces, rather than classrooms. Interior design is a mobile computing program, which means you'll have unlimited access to software, class lecture notes, PowerPoint presentations, reading lists, assignment outlines, and all other course resources.
Annual field trips
We organize an annual field trip to New York, plus occasional trips to Chicago and other locations. You'll even have an opportunity to take courses in Italy throughout the Spring/Summer session.
ARIDO-recognized and CIDA-accredited program
The innovative Interior Design (Honours) degree program from Sheridan College has always kept pace with rising professional standards in the interior design industry. Our program is recognized by the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), and accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA).
Outstanding career preparation
The Interior Design (Honours) BIDS program from Sheridan College will provide the practical, hands-on training and creative approach that we built our reputation on, while also introducing more theoretical and research components.
Above all, you'll learn by doing. You'll work with practicing interior design professionals who have extensive industry experience. You'll also get a hands-on interior design education, graduating with an applied degree and a set of skills that translate directly to the workplace.
You'll enter the job market with advanced knowledge of AUTOCAD, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator and other relevant software. As well, you'll be prepared to write construction specifications and to read and apply the Ontario Building Code (OBC), along with other relevant codes and legislation. You'll also have a 14-week work placement under your belt, completed at the end of your third year at Sheridan.
Career Opportunities
While many of our graduates will be able to go directly into established architectural or interior design firms, many other career paths beckon.
